Films To Watch

The Professionals has been on my list of films to watch for ages! My Pop, a 68 year old workaholic, obsessed with being the next fastest over 60s runner in the London marathon, and film expert (by his own admission) was the one who opened my eyes to westerns. And when my eyes opened they stayed glued to the screen. According to Pop The Professionals is one of the best westerns of all time! And I completely agree with him. It is pure genius! If you haven't yet seen it - buy it - watch it... and then watch it again!

The Hours I stumbled across surfing Youtube (I was probably avoiding working on my dissertation...). The trailer intrigued me, and the film left me feeling strange. It's the story of a writer and her characters, and the book she wrote. The performances from Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore are stunning. Nicole Kidman is a writer lost in her work, lost in the stories in her mind. Julianne Moore plays the character in the book, and Meryl Streep reads the book in the present day. Each woman is linked to the two others, to the point where we are never quite sure weather the all exist or are a figment of each other's imaginations. A weird and wonderful story that is definitely worth a watch when one is in that weird mood between moods.
